This is my personal book club. I am an avid reader!! I love all genres of literature – poetry, prose and drama. I am also not attached to a particular age group either ( I normally read the books I buy for my young niece before she gets it, to ensure it is worth her time).
Some of my all time favourite authors are Shakespeare, Chaucer, Jane Austen and Jean Rhys to name a few. I am also a great promoter of Caribbean and Postcolonial writers, who are often overlooked.
Each month I will update my recommended reading list with a new book in hopes that you will read it and leave your comments/ critiques about it.
AUGUST: In this month, I want to share two (2) books with you:
1) BROWN GIRL BROWNSTONES by Paule Marshall
This book examines the hot issue of migration and what is the migrants dream. It analyzes the hardships that migrants face when living in a foreign land.
2) THE INHERITANCE OF LOSS by Kiran Desai
This book addressesthe conflict between the past and the legacies of colonialism and the modern realities of a fast paced society.
ENJOY AND LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS….
